Autism Specialty Services

Prospect Child & Family Center has always been committed to the family. Rather than fit someone into a pre-set program, the Agency encourages individual choice and personal goals built around the individual and family. Because persons receiving family support services are the predominant decision-makers about the services and support they receive, the Agency strives to empower consumers to make informed choices by providing the necessary resources, education and services.

Advocacy & Referral

Over the years, Prospect Child & Family Center has become a primary resource for concerned parents, school officials and medical professionals. Our staff offers guidance to anyone requesting information about disabilities. Our staff is always available to confidentially answer questions, initiate referrals, and assist families and individuals in obtaining advocacy services as needed.

At Home Residential Habilitation

Home and Community Based Services Brochure
At Home Residential Habilitation is a direct service to the individual so that he/she can increase skills in the area of independence, integration, individualization, and productivity. The goal of this program is to normalize and enhance home and community life for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Respite

Home and Community Based Services Brochure
One of the realties for many families is that parents need to work or may just need a break. We acknowledge that finding child care that is safe, affordable and accessible is a major stressor for family systems. This program has a dual function: respite for working families and care serving individuals for whom “typical” child and daycare are not available due to the individual’s developmental disability.

Annual Swim Program

Annual Swim Program Brochure
Prospect’s annual swim program provides swim instruction for children who are developmentally disabled and who are not able to participate in a community based swim program due to the limits of their disability. All sessions will be individualized to achieve skills at their ability level. Skill levels might range from introduction to the water, relaxation in the water, learning actual swim strokes, to water safety. All participants will have 1:1 staffing in the water while working with an instructor in a small group.

Home Service Program
Since 1964, the New York State Elks Association and CP of NYS have worked together to provide direct services to adults and children with disabilities and their families in their home communities through the Home Service Program. The New York State Elks Association has been an active partner in the funding of the Home Service Program, contributing well over $20 million since its inception. The Glens Falls Elks Lodge named Prospect Child & Family Center’s Home Service Director as its 2008-09 Citizen of the Year.
